"Suzanne Anker is a pioneer in Bio Art working at the intersection of art and the biological sciences. She works in a variety of mediums ranging from digital sculpture and installation to large-scale photography to plants grown by LED lights. “
If you’ve not seen works by Suzanne Anker you are most likely missing out! Her science based sculptures and photography are brilliant blessings offering intricate simplicity in perfectly communicative materials.
I love science! It was never my strong suit, but it appeals to me greatly and I consider my works visually linked to nature and science. Each small intimate mark I make on an artwork has a hidden symbolism to all that is infinitesimal. A word I learned in my twenties, it has been a powerful word in life. Infinitesimal can apply to every aspect of life! And is invisible just as emotions or the particles that are building blocks of our universe, but can be imagined to help give us a visual understanding of our lives.
Anker’s works bring viewers beautifully defined images and texturally exquisite sculptures feasts not only for their eyes, but also for their curiosities and souls.
"Remote Sensing" is one of my favorite series of works by Suzanne Anker.
